Introduction:

Angola, located on the southwestern coast of Africa, is a country with a rich and diverse

cultural heritage shaped by its history, indigenous traditions, and the influence of European

colonization. The country is home to a variety of ethnic groups, including the Ovimbundu,

Mbundu, Bakongo, Chokwe, and Nyaneka, among others. This cultural diversity is

reflected in Angola’s languages, customs, art, music, and religious practices. The nation's

cultural landscape was also profoundly influenced by its colonial past under Portuguese rule,

which lasted for over four centuries, leaving a legacy that continues to shape its society. This

chapter explores three major elements of Angola’s culture: traditional customs, religious

practices, and artistic expressions, providing insight into how the past and present
