cosmetic injectables in practice dermal fillers and botulinum toxin

English

The mission is to make an easily comprehensible book on botulinum toxin and fillers available to practitioners and dermatology students, so they inject properly and safely.Somewhere around 3 years back, I was approached by M/s Jaypee Brothers Medical Publishers

(P) Ltd, New Delhi, India to edit a book on Cosmetic Injectables-Dermal Fillers and Botulinum

toxin, which should be useful for the Asian readers as well as the rest of the world. Honestly,

this was not really in my comfort zone, but I am always in for new adventures. I spoke to three

more co-editors, those who are successful injectors to help me in this venture. However, life is

unpredictable and two of them dropped out along the way. Dr Vivek Nair, my younger colleague

and student, remained on board, and we decided to take this ahead, in spite of the odds.

A lot happened in these 2–3 years in our lives. I could feel once again that I was at professional

crossroads and would perhaps have to take uncomfortable decisions. I lost my dear mother

who was my strength, a wonderful professional colleague and good friend. The editorial

team also changed thrice! And wanting to be true to the subject, I started learning injectables

whenever and wherever I could and I feel I could at least learn some important techniques.

And importantly, a dermatologist mostly following medical dermatology can also learn. It was

our mission to make an easily comprehensible book on botulinum toxin and fillers available

to practitioners and dermatology students, so they inject properly and safely.
