Making sushi at home can be simple and rewarding! Start by preparing sushi rice: rinse 1 cup of short-grain rice until the water runs clear. Cook it with 1 ¼ cups of water, then let it cool slightly. Mix 2 tbsp rice vinegar, 1 tbsp sugar, and 1 tsp salt, and stir it into the rice.

For the fillings, use fresh ingredients like tuna, salmon, or avocado. If you prefer veggie options, cucumber, carrot, and even pickled radish work beautifully.

Now, for rolling: place a sheet of nori (seaweed) shiny side down on a bamboo sushi mat. Spread a thin layer of rice on the nori, leaving about 1 inch at the top. Add your fillings along the center, then gently roll the sushi from the bottom using the mat to guide you. Seal the edge with a little water.

To cut, use a sharp knife dipped in water to prevent sticking. Slice into bite-sized pieces.

Serve with soy sauce, wasabi, and pickled ginger. Enjoy your homemade sushi! It's fresh, customizable, and perfect for impressing your friends or enjoying a relaxed meal.
