MY CHIANG MAI ESSENTIAL GUIDE FOR TRAVELLERS
Dear Traveller,
It was November 3rd when I landed in Chiang Mai, coming from an emotionally intense backpacking trip through Japan-Indonesia. I was in desperate need of routine, community bonds and a well-structured place to rest and work during the next month.
My date of arrival and reason to be in Chiang Mai was the Yi Peng, better known as Lantern / Lights Festival. I wanted to see the lights in the sky, and that was all I knew about the city. Two months later, I can easily tell you that the Yi Peng was just one of many magical days in what became my favorite city in Asia.
I was not the only mesmerized traveler. After so many conversations about what makes this city so special, I decided to write this guide with my highlights and memories.
What you will find here:
A little bit about Chiang Mai - Weather, location, and why it is so special to me
Introduction - Who am I and why did I write this guide
The motorcycle lessons - My experience going to a motorcycle driving school in CNX
The thai massage course - Two weeks in a local school with the cutest teachers ever
The silence retreat - My 7-day Vipassana course on the top of the mountain
The must do / should do things - Elephants, Chiang Rai, Hot Springs and so much more
The final tips that can save you a bunch of time - Daily life recommendations and Communities
I look back and feel SO GRATEFUL for coming! You are about to land in a city that can change so much about how you see and live life. Hopefully you will embark on this journey with an open mind to explore the mysteries of an authentic Thailand!
