Wrapped in glaciers and under a perpetual layer of snow, the northernmost continent of Aras is a land filled with mystery and legend for the rest of the world. Only a few dare to live up high in the mountains. It is there in Amariikat that Amatuk, a young hybrid with great aspirations, builds his life. His father taught him many things over the years: how to guide people through the mountains, how to hunt, to fish... And how to become the next tribal leader of the Opal Wolves. With eyes that display an exotic shift of colors, he dreams and longs for both his marriage with his childhood friend and his role in the hierarchy of the Marak, his people.

But nothing in life is that easy. Amatuk soon discovers how harsh the reality of times is when they're visited by a hostile group led by the merchant Tajir. Resistance is futile when women and children are suddenly in danger. From free man to commodity, he soon sees his dreams and desires crumble before his eyes. Everything he used to know slips from his grasp and it is hard to reach for a ray of hope with the weight of his shackles. Luckily or not, the boy was not alone. His best friend and fiancée were also prisoners and soon all three are sold as slaves. Seeing everything he longed for taken from him, Amatuk has to make a decision: stay and accept his new life or escape the greedy clutches of slavery to take justice into his own hands. Resign himself and put up with the new reality he has become accustomed to or rebel and face the unknown in search of revenge. Life and slavery or hate and freedom. Amatuk or Tajir. Someone has to die.
