Living with Muscular Dystrophy
Understanding what Facio - Scapulo -Humeral
Muscular Dystrophy is
Muscular dystrophy is the most common form of the
disease. The muscles of the face, shoulders, arms and
legs are most affected by the disease throughout life.
Muscular dystrophies are a group of inherited diseases in
which one or more genes necessary for normal muscle
structure and function are missing.
They are defective, resulting in muscle weakness and
muscular atrophy (dystrophy) of varying severity.
Muscular dystrophy (MDFEU) is inherited through an
autosomal dominant gene. Thus, a single mutated gene
is enough to cause the disorder and it can appear in both
men and women. It is the most common form of
dystrophy and occurs in approximately seven out of every
thousand people. Livro impresso em Papel Creme, 80g/m² P&B, no tamanho 21x30cm com 82 páginas.
