Making Sense of Suffering
This book was originally written in 1993, towards the end of my 14-year experience in treating adults and children with trauma. My efforts culminated in the creation of a program with the help of like-minded mental health professionals where patients with a history of trauma could be treated in a holistic manner.
Given the amount of time which has elapsed since I first penned this book, many things have changed and we know much more about the brain and how it and our bodies are affected by the environment. The central issues and concerns raised in the book remain unchanged. There has also been a long overdue interest in the therapeutic use of psychedelics for similar rationale as mine for treating PTSD.
