Engaging English: Seven Dynamic Lessons with Real Materials, Games, and Movement

Educators are constantly challenged by the need to plan and teach meaningful lessons. In terms of English as a Foreign Language learning, factors such as engagement, encouragement, self-confidence, relaxation, activeness, genuine references, and fun play a significant role in assisting students to develop the communicative skills needed to reach linguistic competence in the target language.

This book presents a set of seven lessons that integrate real-life objects for teaching (realia), the Total Physical Response method (TPR), and Game-Based Learning approach (GBL) in the search for active, engaging, encouraging, and meaningful activities which promote language acquisition and contribute to improve EFL instruction. Learners are provided of a genuine, palpable, relaxing, engaging, encouraging, and meaningful learning context. The idea is to provide teachers with an educational proposal that guides them to change the passivity of the traditional EFL classroom for an active, fun, motivating and meaningful model of instruction.
