God´s Inspiration: Testament from a Mother who Prays

“Mothers Who Pray for Their Children” MOVEMENT has its human and faith roots in the spirituality taught and witnessed

by the Catholic Charismatic Renewal. The leaders and founders of this ecclesial Movement drank from this source that received pastoral guidance and was recognized by the National Council of Bishop in Brazil - CNBB in their document number 53. The main leader is the author of this essay who intends to express, with an exultant heart, the face of the Movement, its essence and the way of existing in the life of the Church. The reader will immediately be able to realise the importance and centrality of prayer in this Movement.

I believe it is important, in this modest introduction, to draw attention to this truth, the pillar of the Church and of this Ecclesial Movement: prayer. Prayer is not something simple in ecclesial spirituality. It expresses some extremely important aspects, which I want to

expose briefly, as to invite each participant of this Movement “Mothers who pray for their children” to internalise them as a path of spirituality. The Christian Pilgrim's Prayer - And We Are All Pilgrims – firstly implies the attitude of the poor in spirit, described in the Sermon on the Mountain in Mt 5,3: “Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the Kingdom of Heaven”. The person praying is fundamentally poor, empty of himself, so that God may act in his stripped heart. It is the first condition for the Christian disciple to pray like Jesus and with Jesus and Mary, the Virgin of Nazareth and our dear Mother.

This is contemplative prayer. Hence arise praise, thanksgiving, supplication, reparation, deep adoration, delight with the Lord our God. Only a poor heart can pray like that. There is no place for pride and vanity.
