English@Home
The English as a Second Language program (ESL) at English at Home is an integrated course intended to lead students from an A1 level to a C1 according to The Common European Framework standards. The four macro skills of reading, writing, speaking and listening as well as the micro-skills of vocabulary and grammar are addressed to them in the classes on a weekly basis. In addition to promoting the language foundation, the learning process relates to the use of technological resources, the development of critical thinking, social and life skills to face a globalized world. The methodology used is Task-based Instruction (TBI) in order to ensure the functionality of the language. There are two programs for adults under the names World Link and Reflect. The first one consists of 5 levels (pre-A1 to B2) and the second one of 6 levels (Reflect Speaking-Listening 1-6) as well. Every level corresponds to a complete book with their 12 thematic units in the case of World Link and the 8 thematic units in the case of Reflect. There is an estimated pacing per level of approximately 6 months which are also complemented with extra classes of the alternative program Everyday English.
