Hybrid Picking for Jazz Guitar
Hybrid Picking for Jazz Guitar is a practical digital method for guitarists who want to combine the articulation and precision of the pick with the independence and polyphonic possibilities of the fingers.
The book begins with the essential foundations of hybrid picking, including tone production, right-hand posture, alternating strokes, chord playing, arpeggios, and exercises for developing independence between the pick, middle, ring, and little fingers.
The technique is then applied to seven essential devices for solo jazz guitar:
• Block chords
• Melody and accompaniment
• Arpeggios
• Open triads
• Intervallic playing
• Melody and bass
• Combining bass, harmony, and melody
The method includes:
• Progressive technical exercises
• Standard notation and TAB for every musical example
• Companion video demonstrations
• 20 practical exercises
• 7 complete etudes based on harmonic progressions from jazz standards such as All the Things You Are, Body and Soul, Donna Lee, Stella by Starlight, Cherokee, and Beautiful Love.
• Practice guidance for developing control, balance, timing, and musical application
This is not a beginner guitar method. It is designed for guitarists who are already familiar with chord symbols, basic standard notation or TAB, common seventh-chord shapes, and the structure of jazz standards.
