Learn How to Face Any Climb
Many cyclists, with little or no physical preparation, when encountering long, steep climbs soon get discouraged, pedal as far as they can stand and then go down to push the bike. And facing a descent is even worse, because the fear of falling forward, getting hurt, and embarrassment is great.
This fear and shame can disappear if you choose the right gear, which is directly linked to the plane and how steep it is. There are climbs that you downshift once or twice in the rear gear and you can even keep the big crown, in the case of those who use 3 crowns. But, it is almost always done in the intermediate crown and even in the small crown when you are riding in the dirt or on trails.
