Learning About Love - an anthology of poems

Traditionally, a life well lived has some essential components. Things like planting a tree and having a child. This poet has exceeded her life-time quota of them and her work clearly speaks of wide- ranging experience of humankind and of realms invisible. The great charm of her poetry is her perception of life and the wide ranging events which permeate her writing with a distinct perfume of truth which refuses to be ignored, whether acrid or sweet.

Whether discussing a much-loved tree, spouse or deity, she succeeds in informing strangers and kin alike of realities seldom seen at first, second or any glance at all. Because the truth she identifies with is a truth of the spirit, a spirit which refuses to be blunted by life on the physical planes.

It is apparent from her poems on Alzheimer´s that the physical plane makes a strong impact and engenders much searching for what remains alive of a love spanning almost four decades; and four continents. A love which arrived late in life; and travelled to another continent to find her, faithful and constant.

This same impact is just as apparent in a whole body of work dedicated to the subtle magic and vibrant beauty of the Moorish cultures of Iberian lands. There is contrast and balance, beauty and sorrow in lines which bring back other lives, other cultures as if lived in today. Cultures which are part of the heritage of the whole human race and which, in Myriam´s life, become jewels adorning an inner landscape of richness, gems which feed a soul enamored with beauty.
