The Light Heart: The Book of Cards
The heart is weighed against a feather.
The Light Heart is the companion book to PlayTarot's The Light Heart Tarot: the 78 cards of the classic tarot dressed in the skin of ancient Egypt. The river that rises and falls and decides the whole year, the black land between two deserts, the barque that crosses the night, the scales where a heart is weighed against the feather of Maat, the goddess of truth and right measure. Not a punishment: the hour to look at what you did, without a lawyer.
Each of the 78 cards appears in full color, with three layers of reading. The reading of the image walks through the symbols one by one. The Bridge distills the card's essence and ends in a question. The Light and Shadow keywords are there for quick reference. Anyone who knows traditional tarot will recognize each archetype under the new skin: The Fool sets out on the first morning of the world, and The Tower falls like an obelisk set on sand.
Inside:
• Tarot as a symbolic language, with no mystery and no prediction
• How to read the cards: the right question, looking before reading, light and shadow
• Three spreads, from one to five cards: Inner Spark, Inner Compass and Inner Elements
• The 22 Major Arcana, from The First Morning to The Shen Ring, and the 56 Minor Arcana in four suits of the Nile valley: Lotus, Reed Pen, Falcon and Wheat
• A glossary with each card's essence in a single line
A deck inspired by the wisdom literature and temple imagery of ancient Egypt, used as a vocabulary for the inner life, not as a religion.
The valley crossed here is the one inside you, and no card walks the road on your behalf.
Not your future. Your reflection.
