Understanding time, tense, and aspect – beyond the basics

The past, the present, and the future walked into a bar. It was tense. hahaha

OK, terrible joke! But the truth is that understanding time, tense, and aspect in English can be quite tricky. Let me give you an example of what I mean: Are the following sentences in the past, present, or future?

- The plane leaves at 10.

- That'll be my mom on the phone.

- 'Did you want something to drink, sir?'

It's possible to say the first one is present or future, depending on context; the second one is probably present; the last one is probably present as well. Confusing, isn't it?

In this course, we're will:

- discuss the differences between time, tense, and aspect;

- understand what all perfect tenses have in common (i.e. the perfect aspect);

- discuss the twelve verb tenses in English (are there really twelve?).

And more!

If you're an English teacher, an advanced user of the language, or if you're preparing for an international exam such as Cambridge C1 or C2, this course is certainly for you!
