Understanding verb patterns – beyond the basics

English

Verb patterns may well be one of the hardest things to learn in English.

Why can I say 'can you give me this?' but not 'can you explain me this?' What's the difference between 'I tried to call her' and 'I tried calling her'? Which verbs can be followed only by to, which only by -ing, and which only by bare infinitive? Which by more than one possible form with no change in meaning? Which with a change in meaning? So many questions...

In this course, we'll discuss different aspects of verb patterns and how to study them, and we'll also practice them extensively.

If you're an English teacher, an advanced user of the language, or if you're preparing for an international exam such as Cambridge C1 or C2, this course is certainly for you!
