WHITE MUMMY COOKIES
🎃 White Mummy Cookies – Recipe & Preparation
White Mummy Cookies are a fun, spooky, and delicious treat perfect for Halloween or themed parties. These cookies are typically made with a simple sugar cookie base and decorated with white chocolate or icing to look like cute little mummies wrapped in bandages. With candy eyes peeking out from under the “wraps,” they’re sure to be a hit with kids and adults alike. They’re easy to make, great for baking with children, and can even be made using store-bought cookies for a quick version.
🧁 Ingredients:
For the Sugar Cookies:
2 ¾ cups all-purpose flour
1 tsp baking soda
½ tsp baking powder
1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter, softened
1 ½ cups granulated sugar
1 egg
1 tsp vanilla extract
¼ tsp salt
For the Mummy Decoration:
1½ to 2 cups white chocolate chips or white candy melts
Candy eyes (available at baking stores or online)
Optional: Piping bag or zip-top bag for drizzling
🍽️ Preparation:
1. Bake the Sugar Cookies
Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, baking powder, and salt.
In a large bowl, cream the softened butter and sugar until light and fluffy (2–3 minutes).
Beat in the egg and vanilla extract until fully combined.
Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, mixing just until incorporated.
Scoop out dough and roll into balls (about 1 to 1½ inches).
Place on baking sheet and slightly flatten each ball with your palm.
Bake for 8–10 minutes, or until the edges are just starting to turn golden.
Let cookies cool completely on a wire rack before decorating.
2. Decorate the Cookies Like Mummies
Melt the white chocolate chips or candy melts in a microwave-safe bowl in 30-second intervals, stirring in between until smooth.
Transfer the melted chocolate to a piping bag (or a zip-top bag with the tip cut off).
Drizzle the chocolate over the cookies in a zigzag pattern to resemble mummy bandages.
