Yoga - What I Learned from Vanda Scaravelli
If you have heard or been interested in Vanda Scaravelli’s revolutionary yoga and would like to know more, then this is the book for you. It explores her teachings through her own words.
During my 15 years of private lessons with Vanda, I kept notes with her instructions, her wise advice, humorous moments, and personal anecdotes. While my explanations are printed in black, her comments are in blue italics.
It’s easy for the reader to hear Vanda’s voice.
Her words have the power to awaken new enthusiasm and understanding, reassuring us that there is a way to respect oneself and one’s body, finding space and freedom.
Elizabeth Pauncz and Yoga
Yoga entered my life unexpectedly in 1972 while visiting my parents in Cleveland, Ohio. After an intense month and a half of practice, I continued on my own for two years before studying with Dona Holleman in Florence for ten years. This journey led me to Pune, India, for an immersive month at the Ramamani Iyengar Memorial Institute.
A turning point came when Vanda Scaravelli guided me for 15 years, teaching me the power of gravity in movement. Breath became my greatest ally—exhalation lengthens the spine, while inhalation allows relaxation.
Inspired by ancient Egyptian movement, I help students rediscover natural elegance. Now, after 32 years running my studio, I teach privately at home and have authored four books to support your yoga journey.
