What will we see in this post

Are you ready to take your business to the fours corners of the world with Hotmart? Today we’ll show you a few more resources fresh from the oven to help you with that goal: the new local payment methods available for Portugal and the European Union.

Read on to find out everything about this amazing opportunity!

How do the new payment methods work for the European territory?

HotPay is Hotmart’s payment system that works for both national and international transactions – it’s already functional and available in over 200 countries.

Therefore, your buyers can pay for your digital product via credit card (or even using two cards) and they also have the option to make a prompt payment, pay in installments or with PayPal (according to each Producer’s choice).

Now, you have two more incredible options for European residents:

1) Transactions (SEPA) between european countries:

This is a solution that allows your clients to make payments in a safe, efficient way, called SEPA (Single Euro Payments Area).

In case the Bank Debit option is enabled as a payment method in your checkout settings, SEPA will be automatically available. If you wish to enable it right now, check out our FAQ.

For which countries is this option available?

This payment method is available for countries that are part of the EU and its associated territories, including: Austria, Belgium, Cyprus, Denmark, Germany, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain (including Ceuta, Canary Islands and Melilla), Estonia, Finland (including Äland islands) France (including overseas territories French Guiana, Guadeloupe, Martinique, Mayotte, Réunion, St. Bartholomew, St. Martin, St. Pierre and Miquelon), Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Italy, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, The Netherlands, Malta, Norway, Poland, Portugal (including Azores and Madeira), United Kingdom (including Gibraltar, Guernsey, Isle of Man and Jersey), Czech Republic, Ireland, Sweden, Bulgaria and Romania and Croatia.

2) “Multibanco” system in Portugal:

“Multibanco” is a very well known interbank system in Portugal that provides a wide range of payment services.

A lot of Portugal residents prefer to pay for their online purchases via transfer, therefore, a Multibanco reference is issued. Then, they can use a Multibanco ATM or the homebanking service on their computer or smartphone to make the payment. Therefore, Producers and Affiliates who offer this option for their Portuguese customers have a considerable advantage.

Hotmart already offers local payment options such as Boleto Bancário (for Brazil), Oxxo (for Mexico) and Baloto (for Colombia),  and now Multibanco offers buyers in Portuguese territory the option to pay for their purchases through a Multibanco reference code.

If you have already enabled the Bank slip in the checkout settings, the “Multibanco” option will be automatically available; if not, simply enable it.

What is the great advantage of the new payment methods?

One of the great benefits of these types of payment, in addition to the fact that it is a totally safe, transparent transaction, is in reducing the possible resistance between you and your European customers.

What does this mean?

That your international buyers will have a more practical choice and will consequently feel safer and encouraged to go through with the purchase, since they will overcome objections at the time of making the payment. Therefore, they will be more likely to buy your product.

It’s a great opportunity to give your customers a faster, more effective alternative and boost your conversions in these countries. Cool, right?

So, did you like this incredible chance to make your sales soar in Europe? Be sure to use HotPay’s new payment methods to reach your goals faster!
